CECILIA
CORTES HONORED IN GLOBAL DESIGN CONTEST
– Uses Forum to Fight Child Prostitution –
WASHINGTON –
Graphic designer Cecilia Cortes was recognized for her outstanding
poster, “Not for Play. Not for Sale,” in a prestigious
international design competition by Einbhan Design Studio.
Cortes’ project
was selected as one of six winning posters out of 150 entries
from six continents.
Winners were announced
last week. Designers were required to call attention to an important
international issue using a unique design concept.
Cortes chose child
prostitution, using hand-sketched drawings of old-fashioned paper
dolls to make her point. “Child prostitution is a global
issue,” said Cortes. “Paper dolls are something that
girls from all around the world have played with. I wanted to
use the image to shock people into paying attention.”
